One in a while we stumble across a really useful tool that makes life easier, and our work faster. This is one of them: the 960 Grid System.
It is a set of tools for making quick work of prototyping a site design or template. The bundle comes with printable grids, templates for Fireworks, OmniGraffle, Photoshop & Visio, and a CSS framework.
Essentially, it breaks a 960 pixel wide layout into 12 or 16 columns for you to play with. The included CSS makes it really easy to convert your design into code - you just specify divs with the appropriate classes and it automatically lays them out for you.
We're currently redesigning Redkey's main sie using 960.gs. There's also the Blueprint CSS framework by OlavBjorkoy... haven't used it so can't comment on it, but if you have, do let us know what you think.
